What is WordPress


WordPress is a content Management System(CMS). Which is used for making website or blog more beautiful with well designed templates and plugins. It is an open source and written in PHP. Here also anyone can use front-end(HTML, CSS) or Back-end(PHP) Programming skills.


Content Management System is a Software where we can design any blog or website without prior knowledge of any programming Skills. There are many popular CMS like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento etc..

Version Used in Wordpress

WordPress has two version. These are as follow:

  1. Wordpress.com
  2. Wordpress.com  


  • Wordpress.com:  It is a free version of WordPress. Where you can access only few features of it. It provides customer it own sub-domain like(mydomain.wordpress.com). It is good for those who want to focus only on blogging. Visit Here
  • Wordpress.org: It is a paid version of WordPress. Which provide full access of all wordpress features like installing plugins and templates. Here you can customize you website or blog with lots of templates and plugins. click here


How to Install WordPress For Your Website

For running Custom website you should first buy a hosting services for your domain or you can also use WordPress own domain Hosting. Here I am giving you step by step instruction on how to install WordPress for your domain.


  • First Buy a hosting Service like Godaddy, Hostinger, bluehost, dreamhost according to your plan.
  • Create your account here.
  • Then go to client area and Sign-in into your account.
  • click on Add Account section for add your domain here. 
  • After creating Account Go into your control panel.
  • Now Scroll down and in the Software section click on Softaculous app installer
  • Here you can find WordPress or any other CMS.
  • Now install WordPress and define your website URL in it. and type your username and password in it.

That's it. WordPress installed for your domain. For Customizing WordPress type "yourdomain/wp-admin" and your admin panel will be opened.

How to setup WordPress website

To setup WordPress, Follow these steps:

  • First Check installed theme if you are not satisfied with theme then change it. For changing go to appearance then click on theme, type your favorite theme here and install it.
  • Install best suitable plugins for your website.
  • Check your Website structure and fit all its categories in best places of your website. To customize your website in WordPress, first hover your cursor on appearance, Then choose customize. After that you can customize your website structure according your way. Then click publish to publish your content. 

How to Create Post, Post Categories in WordPress

To creating a post on WordPress go to post section below dashboard section.

  • Take cursor on post and select new post.
  • Now here add your title, Description, Content, keywords etc.
  • Select your Category, create tag, add featured image.
  • After all that click on preview then publish it.

To create a Post Category, follow these steps.

  • Go to post and select categories
  • On Add New Categories section Type Category name*, slug*, Parent Category, and Description. 
  • Click on Add New Category.
Now your category will be created. Remember Only Category Name and slug are mandatory for use.


How to Add Images, Videos into WordPress

To add images and videos in WordPress follow these steps:

  • Take cursor on Media and click on add new.
  • You can drag your file here or upload your media file.

Pages makes your website more dynamic. For creating pages:

  • Go to Pages section and then click on Add new.
  • Now add your title, Description, content, Featured image, select layout.
  • Then click on Preview and Publish.
Now your pages will be created.
